With COVID-19 still presenting difficulties for schools and your children’s extra-curricular activities, they could be getting a little too much screen time. According to research produced by the National Institute of Health, screen time has increased significantly since before the pandemic. With that being said, it’s more important than ever to get away from technology and pick up a book.
It’s the perfect time to jump back into reading. One way some communities are doing this is by establishing Little Free Libraries for the entire community to enjoy.
What does this do for our community?
- Provides homeowners and families access to books 24/7
- Free of charge
- Fun for the whole family
- Mental Stimulation
- Stress Reduction
- Increased Knowledge
- Vocabulary Expansion
- Memory Improvement
- Stronger Analytical Thinking Skills
- Improved Focus & Concentration
- Better Writing Skills
- Free Entertainment
To establish this library within your community you’ll most likely have to request permission from the Board of Directors. Become a steward for the library in your community, and work with a small committee of association members to keep the library stocked, clean, and in compliance with your HOA’s regulations.
By establishing a library within your community, you’re adding value, and happiness directly to homeowners and their families. For more information on how to establish a Little Free Library check out their site!
Please read the CDC’s website for recommendations on COVID-19 precautions and protocols when establishing these programs within your communities. Happy Reading!
