Important System Upgrade and DNS Change Information

Attention Property Management Companies using AtHomeNet:

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance AtHomeNet’s performance and security, we recently transitioned the AtHomeNet platform to Microsoft Azure Cloud Hosting. This upgrade requires important changes to your organization’s Domain Name Service (DNS) records.

For Management Companies ONLY (not homeowners) – Action Is Required on Your Part!

To ensure uninterrupted service, Management Companies need to update their AtHomeNet DNS records.  FRONTSTEPS does not have access to update your DNS records.

Deadline for Change: April 26, 2024

New AtHomeNet Public IP: 20.163.171.166

Steps to Update DNS Records:

1.         Determine your DNS Hosting Provider through a DNS Lookup at mxtoolbox.com.

2.         Log into your account with the DNS Hosting Provider or contact them for instructions on changing your “A” records.

3.         Update the “A” record – it should be changed from 204.193.149.xx to 20.163.171.166

4.         Set the Time to Live (TTL) value for the “A” record to 300 seconds, or the lowest value accepted by your hosting provider.

If your customers use email within AtHomeNet, additional updates will be needed:

1.         The “A” record for your mail exchange record (mail.yourdomain.xxx) should be updated from 204.193.149.50 to 173.242.31.107

2.         Add the following Sender Policy Framework text (SPF TXT) record “v=spf1 ip4:173.242.31.107 ip4:173.242.31.108 -all”

3.         Set the Time to Live (TTL) value for the mail exchange “A” record to 300 seconds, or the lowest value accepted by your hosting provider.

Note: DNS updates for mail exchange are needed ONLY if you have an existing mail exchange “A” record pointing to 204.193.149.50, otherwise you do not need to make updates to the mail exchange record.

 

AtHomeNet and AtHomeNet email will continue to operate on the old IP addresses until April 26, 2023, at which time the service will cease to operate on the old IP addresses.
